10 A phan glybu brenhines Seba glod Solomon am enw yr Arglwydd, hi a ddaeth i’w brofi ef â chwestiynau caled. 2 A hi a ddaeth i Jerwsalem â llu mawr iawn, â chamelod yn dwyn aroglau, ac aur lawer iawn, a meini gwerthfawr. A hi a ddaeth at Solomon, ac a lefarodd wrtho ef yr hyn oll oedd yn ei chalon. 3 A Solomon a fynegodd iddi hi ei holl ofynion: nid oedd dim yn guddiedig rhag y brenin, a’r na fynegodd efe iddi hi. 4 A phan welodd brenhines Seba holl ddoethineb Solomon, a’r tŷ a adeiladasai efe, 5 A bwyd ei fwrdd, ac eisteddiad ei weision, a threfn ei weinidogion, a’u dillad hwynt, a’i drulliadau ef, a’i esgynfa ar hyd yr hon yr âi efe i fyny i dŷ yr Arglwydd; nid oedd mwyach ysbryd ynddi. 6 A hi a ddywedodd wrth y brenin, Gwir yw y gair a glywais yn fy ngwlad am dy ymadroddion di, ac am dy ddoethineb. 7 Eto ni chredais y geiriau, nes i mi ddyfod, ac i’m llygaid weled: ac wele, ni fynegasid i mi yr hanner: mwy yw dy ddoethineb a’th ddaioni na’r clod a glywais i. 8 Gwyn fyd dy wŷr di, gwyn fyd dy weision hyn, y rhai sydd yn sefyll yn wastadol ger dy fron di, yn clywed dy ddoethineb. 9 Bendigedig fyddo yr Arglwydd dy Dduw, yr hwn a’th hoffodd di, i’th roddi ar deyrngadair Israel: oherwydd cariad yr Arglwydd tuag at Israel yn dragywydd, y gosododd efe di yn frenin, i wneuthur barn a chyfiawnder. 10 A hi a roddes i’r brenin chwech ugain talent o aur, a pheraroglau lawer iawn, a meini gwerthfawr. Ni ddaeth y fath beraroglau mwyach, cyn amled â’r rhai a roddodd brenhines Seba i’r brenin Solomon. 11 A llongau Hiram hefyd, y rhai a gludent aur o Offir, a ddygasant o Offir lawer iawn o goed almugim, ac o feini gwerthfawr. 12 A’r brenin a wnaeth o’r coed almugim anelau i dŷ yr Arglwydd, ac i dŷ y brenin, a thelynau a saltringau i gantorion. Ni ddaeth y fath goed almugim, ac ni welwyd hyd y dydd hwn. 13 A’r brenin Solomon a roddes i frenhines Seba ei holl ddymuniad, yr hyn a ofynnodd hi, heblaw yr hyn a roddodd Solomon iddi hi o’i frenhinol haelioni. Felly hi a ddychwelodd, ac a aeth i’w gwlad, hi a’i gweision.

14 A phwys yr aur a ddeuai i Solomon bob blwyddyn, oedd chwe chant a thrigain a chwech o dalentau aur; 15 Heblaw yr hyn a gâi efe gan y marchnadwyr, ac o farsiandïaeth y llysieuwyr, a chan holl frenhinoedd Arabia, a thywysogion y wlad.

16 A’r brenin Solomon a wnaeth ddau gant o darianau aur dilin; chwe chan sicl o aur a roddodd efe ym mhob tarian: 17 A thri chant o fwcledi o aur dilin; tair punt o aur a roddes efe ym mhob bwcled. A’r brenin a’u rhoddes hwynt yn nhŷ coedwig Libanus.

18 A’r brenin a wnaeth orseddfainc fawr o ifori, ac a’i gwisgodd hi ag aur o’r gorau. 19 Chwech o risiau oedd i’r orseddfainc; a phen crwn oedd i’r orseddfainc o’r tu ôl iddi, a chanllawiau o bob tu i’r eisteddle, a dau lew yn sefyll yn ymyl y canllawiau. 20 A deuddeg o lewod oedd yn sefyll yno ar y chwe gris o’r ddeutu. Ni wnaethpwyd y fath yn un deyrnas.

21 A holl lestri yfed y brenin Solomon oedd o aur; a holl lestri tŷ coedwig Libanus oedd aur pur: nid oedd arian ynddynt. Ni roddid dim bri arno yn nyddiau Solomon. 22 Oherwydd llongau Tarsis oedd gan y brenin ar y môr, gyda llongau Hiram. Unwaith yn y tair blynedd y deuai llongau Tarsis, yn dwyn aur, ac arian, ac ifori, ac epaod, a pheunod. 23 A’r brenin Solomon a ragorodd ar holl frenhinoedd y ddaear, mewn cyfoeth a doethineb.

24 A’r holl fyd oedd yn ceisio gweled wyneb Solomon, i glywed ei ddoethineb ef, a roddasai Duw yn ei galon ef. 25 A hwy a ddygasant bob un ei anrheg, llestri arian, a llestri aur, a gwisgoedd, ac arfau, a pheraroglau, meirch, a mulod, dogn bob blwyddyn.

26 A Solomon a gasglodd gerbydau a marchogion: ac yr oedd ganddo fil a phedwar cant o gerbydau, a deuddeng mil o farchogion; y rhai a osododd efe yn ninasoedd y cerbydau, a chyda’r brenin yn Jerwsalem. 27 A’r brenin a wnaeth yr arian yn Jerwsalem fel cerrig, a’r cedrwydd a wnaeth efe fel sycamorwydd yn y doldir, o amldra.

28 A meirch a ddygid i Solomon o’r Aifft, ac edafedd llin: marchnadyddion y brenin a gymerent yr edafedd llin dan bris. 29 A cherbyd a ddeuai i fyny ac a âi allan o’r Aifft am chwe chan sicl o arian, a march am gant a deg a deugain: ac fel hyn i holl frenhinoedd yr Hethiaid, ac i frenhinoedd Syria, y dygent hwy feirch trwy eu llaw hwynt.

The Queen of Sheba Visits Solomon(A)

10 When the queen of Sheba(B) heard about the fame(C) of Solomon and his relationship to the Lord, she came to test Solomon with hard questions.(D) 2 Arriving at Jerusalem with a very great caravan(E)—with camels carrying spices, large quantities of gold, and precious stones—she came to Solomon and talked with him about all that she had on her mind. 3 Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too hard for the king to explain to her. 4 When the queen of Sheba saw all the wisdom of Solomon and the palace he had built, 5 the food on his table,(F) the seating of his officials, the attending servants in their robes, his cupbearers, and the burnt offerings he made at[a] the temple of the Lord, she was overwhelmed.

6 She said to the king, “The report I heard in my own country about your achievements and your wisdom is true. 7 But I did not believe(G) these things until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not even half was told me; in wisdom and wealth(H) you have far exceeded the report I heard. 8 How happy your people must be! How happy your officials, who continually stand before you and hear(I) your wisdom! 9 Praise(J) be to the Lord your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on the throne of Israel. Because of the Lord’s eternal love(K) for Israel, he has made you king to maintain justice(L) and righteousness.”

10 And she gave the king 120 talents[b] of gold,(M) large quantities of spices, and precious stones. Never again were so many spices brought in as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.

11 (Hiram’s ships brought gold from Ophir;(N) and from there they brought great cargoes of almugwood[c] and precious stones. 12 The king used the almugwood to make supports[d] for the temple of the Lord and for the royal palace, and to make harps and lyres for the musicians. So much almugwood has never been imported or seen since that day.)

13 King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba all she desired and asked for, besides what he had given her out of his royal bounty. Then she left and returned with her retinue to her own country.

Solomon’s Splendor(O)

14 The weight of the gold(P) that Solomon received yearly was 666 talents,[e] 15 not including the revenues from merchants and traders and from all the Arabian kings and the governors of the territories.

16 King Solomon made two hundred large shields(Q) of hammered gold; six hundred shekels[f] of gold went into each shield. 17 He also made three hundred small shields of hammered gold, with three minas[g] of gold in each shield. The king put them in the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon.(R)

18 Then the king made a great throne covered with ivory and overlaid with fine gold. 19 The throne had six steps, and its back had a rounded top. On both sides of the seat were armrests, with a lion standing beside each of them. 20 Twelve lions stood on the six steps, one at either end of each step. Nothing like it had ever been made for any other kingdom. 21 All King Solomon’s goblets were gold, and all the household articles in the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon were pure gold.(S) Nothing was made of silver, because silver was considered of little value in Solomon’s days. 22 The king had a fleet of trading ships[h](T) at sea along with the ships(U) of Hiram. Once every three years it returned, carrying gold, silver and ivory, and apes and baboons.

23 King Solomon was greater in riches(V) and wisdom(W) than all the other kings of the earth. 24 The whole world sought audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom(X) God had put in his heart. 25 Year after year, everyone who came brought a gift(Y)—articles of silver and gold, robes, weapons and spices, and horses and mules.

26 Solomon accumulated chariots and horses;(Z) he had fourteen hundred chariots and twelve thousand horses,[i] which he kept in the chariot cities and also with him in Jerusalem. 27 The king made silver as common(AA) in Jerusalem as stones,(AB) and cedar as plentiful as sycamore-fig(AC) trees in the foothills. 28 Solomon’s horses were imported from Egypt and from Kue[j]—the royal merchants purchased them from Kue at the current price. 29 They imported a chariot from Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty.[k] They also exported them to all the kings of the Hittites(AD) and of the Arameans.
