레위인들의 성
21 그때 레위 지파의 지도자들이 가나안 땅의 실로에 있는 제사장 엘르아
2 살과 눈의 아들 여호수아와 이스라엘 지파의 지도자들에게 와서 말하였다. “여호와께서는 모세를 통하여 우리가 살 성과 우리 가축을 먹일 목초지를 우리에게 주라고 명령하셨습니다.”
3 그래서 여호와의 명령에 따라 이스라엘 백성은 자기들의 땅 중에서 일부 성과 목초지를 레위 사람에게 주었다.
4 먼저 고핫 자손을 위해 제비를 뽑았는데 이들 중 제사장 아론의 자손들은 유다 지파와 시므온 지파와 베냐민 지파의 땅 중에서 13개의 성을 얻었다.
5 그리고 고핫의 나머지 자손들은 에브라임 지파와 단 지파와 므낫세 서쪽 반 지파의 땅 중에서 10개의 성을 얻었다.
6 또 게르손 자손들은 잇사갈 지파와 아셀 지파와 납달리 지파와 바산에 있는 므낫세 반 지파의 땅 중에서 13개의 성을 얻었고,
7 므라리 자손들은 르우벤 지파와 갓 지파와 스불론 지파의 땅 중에서 12개의 성을 얻었다.
8 이와 같이 이스라엘 백성은 목초지가 딸린 이 성들을 여호와께서 모세에게 명령하신 대로 제비를 뽑아 레위 사람에게 나누어 주었다.
9 아론의 자손들이 유다 지파와 시므온 지파의 땅 중에서 얻은 성은 아래와 같다:
10 레위 지파 가운데서 고핫 자손의 제비가 먼저 뽑혔으므로 이들 아론의 자손들이 제일 먼저 성을 얻었다.
11 이스라엘 백성은 그들에게 아낙의 조상 아르바의 이름을 딴 기럇 – 아르바성과 그 주변 목초지를 주었는데 현재 이 성은 헤브론이라고 불려지며 유다 산간 지대에 위치해 있다.
12 그러나 그 성 주변의 밭과 부락들은 여분네의 아들 갈렙이 계속 소유하도록 하였다.
13 그래서 아론의 자손들이 얻은 것은 도피성 중의 하나인 헤브론을 포함하여 립나,
14 얏딜, 에스드모아,
15 홀론, 드빌,
16 아인, 윳다, 벧 – 세메스, 그리고 여기에 딸린 목초지였다. 이상의 9개 성은 아론의 자손이 유다 지파와 시므온 지파에게서 얻은 것이다.
17 그리고 그들은 베냐민 지파의 땅 중에서도 4개의 성을 얻었다. 그것은 기브온, 게바,
18 아나돗, 알몬, 그리고 여기에 딸린 목초지였다.
19 이상 13개의 성과 그 주변 목초지는 제사장 아론의 자손들에게 준 것이다.
20 [a]아론의 자손을 제외한 고핫의 나머지 자손들은 두 지파 반에게서 성을 얻었다. 그들이 에브라임 지파에게서 얻은 것은
21 도피성 중의 하나인 에브라임 산간 지대의 세겜과 그리고 게셀과
22 깁사임과 벧 – 호론과 여기에 딸린 목초지로 모두 4개의 성이었다.
23 또 그들이 단 지파에게서 얻은 것은 엘드게와 깁브돈과
24 아얄론과 가드 – 림몬과 여기에 딸린 목초지로 모두 4개의 성이었다.
25 그리고 므낫세 서쪽 반 지파에게서 얻은 것은 다아낙과 가드 – 림몬과 여기에 딸린 목초지로 모두 2개의 성이었다.
26 이상 10개의 성과 그 주변 목초지는 고핫의 나머지 자손들이 얻은 것이다.
27 레위 지파의 다른 집안인 게르손 자손은 [b]세 지파 반에게서 성을 얻었다. 그들이 므낫세 동쪽 반 지파에게서 얻은 것은 도피성 중의 하나인 바산의 골란과 브 – 에스드라와 여기에 딸린 목초지로 모두 2개의 성이며,
28 잇사갈 지파에게서 얻은 것은 기시온과 다브랏과
29 야르뭇과 엔 – 간님과 여기에 딸린 목초지로 모두 4개의 성이었다.
30 그리고 그들이 아셀 지파에게서 얻은 것은 미살과 압돈과
31 헬갓과 르홉과 여기에 딸린 목초지로 모두 4개의 성이며
32 납달리 지파에게서 얻은 것은 도피성 중의 하나인 갈릴리의 게데스와 함못 – 돌과 가르단과 여기에 딸린 목초지로 모두 3개의 성이었다.
33 이상 13개의 성과 그 주변 목초지는 게르손 자손이 얻은 것이다.
34 레위 지파의 나머지 집안인 므라리 자손은 [c]세 지파에게서 성을 얻었다. 그들이 스불론 지파에게서 얻은 것은 욕느암과 가르다와
35 딤나와 나할랄과 여기에 딸린 목초지로 모두 4개의 성이며
36 르우벤 지파에게서 얻은 것은 베셀과 야하스와
37 그데못과 므바앗과 여기에 딸린 목초지로 모두 4개의 성이었다.
38 그리고 그들이 갓 지파에게서 얻은 것은 도피성 중의 하나인 길르앗의 라못과 마하나임과
39 헤스본과 야셀과 여기에 딸린 목초지로 모두 4개의 성이었다.
40 이상 12개의 성과 그 주변 목초지는 레위 지파의 므라리 자손이 얻은 것이다.
41 이스라엘 백성의 각 지파가 소유한 땅 중에서 레위 지파가 얻은 것은 모두 48개의 성과 목초지인데
42 모든 성의 주변에 이와 같은 목초지가 딸려 있었다.
43 이와 같이 여호와께서 이스라엘 조상들에게 주겠다고 약속한 땅을 하나도 남김없이 모두 이스라엘 백성에게 주셨으므로 그들이 그 땅을 점령하고 거기에 정착하였다.
44 그래서 여호와께서는 그들의 조상들에게 약속한 대로 그들의 온 땅에서 평안을 누리게 하셨다. 여호와께서 그들의 모든 원수들을 그들의 손에 넘겨 주셨으므로 그들을 당해 낼 대적이 하나도 없었다.
45 이렇게 해서 이스라엘 백성에게 약속한 여호와의 모든 선한 일이 그대로 이루어졌다.

Towns for the Levites(A)
21 Now the family heads of the Levites approached Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the other tribal families of Israel(B) 2 at Shiloh(C) in Canaan and said to them, “The Lord commanded through Moses that you give us towns(D) to live in, with pasturelands for our livestock.”(E) 3 So, as the Lord had commanded, the Israelites gave the Levites the following towns and pasturelands out of their own inheritance:
4 The first lot came out for the Kohathites,(F) according to their clans. The Levites who were descendants of Aaron the priest were allotted thirteen towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon and Benjamin.(G) 5 The rest of Kohath’s descendants were allotted ten towns from the clans of the tribes of Ephraim, Dan and half of Manasseh.(H)
6 The descendants of Gershon(I) were allotted thirteen towns from the clans of the tribes of Issachar,(J) Asher,(K) Naphtali and the half-tribe of Manasseh in Bashan.
7 The descendants of Merari,(L) according to their clans, received twelve(M) towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Zebulun.(N)
8 So the Israelites allotted to the Levites these towns and their pasturelands, as the Lord had commanded through Moses.
9 From the tribes of Judah and Simeon they allotted the following towns by name 10 (these towns were assigned to the descendants of Aaron who were from the Kohathite clans of the Levites, because the first lot fell to them):
11 They gave them Kiriath Arba(O) (that is, Hebron(P)), with its surrounding pastureland, in the hill country of Judah. (Arba was the forefather of Anak.) 12 But the fields and villages around the city they had given to Caleb son of Jephunneh as his possession.(Q)
13 So to the descendants of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron (a city of refuge(R) for one accused of murder), Libnah,(S) 14 Jattir,(T) Eshtemoa,(U) 15 Holon,(V) Debir,(W) 16 Ain,(X) Juttah(Y) and Beth Shemesh,(Z) together with their pasturelands—nine towns from these two tribes.
17 And from the tribe of Benjamin they gave them Gibeon,(AA) Geba,(AB) 18 Anathoth(AC) and Almon, together with their pasturelands—four towns.
19 The total number of towns(AD) for the priests, the descendants of Aaron, came to thirteen, together with their pasturelands.(AE)
20 The rest of the Kohathite clans of the Levites were allotted towns from the tribe of Ephraim:
21 In the hill country of Ephraim they were given Shechem(AF) (a city of refuge for one accused of murder) and Gezer,(AG) 22 Kibzaim and Beth Horon,(AH) together with their pasturelands—four towns.(AI)
23 Also from the tribe of Dan they received Eltekeh, Gibbethon,(AJ) 24 Aijalon(AK) and Gath Rimmon,(AL) together with their pasturelands—four towns.
25 From half the tribe of Manasseh they received Taanach(AM) and Gath Rimmon, together with their pasturelands—two towns.
26 All these ten towns and their pasturelands were given to the rest of the Kohathite clans.(AN)
27 The Levite clans of the Gershonites were given:
from the half-tribe of Manasseh,
Golan in Bashan(AO) (a city of refuge for one accused of murder(AP)) and Be Eshterah, together with their pasturelands—two towns;
28 from the tribe of Issachar,(AQ)
Kishion,(AR) Daberath,(AS) 29 Jarmuth(AT) and En Gannim,(AU) together with their pasturelands—four towns;
30 from the tribe of Asher,(AV)
32 from the tribe of Naphtali,
Kedesh(AZ) in Galilee (a city of refuge for one accused of murder(BA)), Hammoth Dor and Kartan, together with their pasturelands—three towns.
33 The total number of towns of the Gershonite(BB) clans came to thirteen, together with their pasturelands.
34 The Merarite clans (the rest of the Levites) were given:
from the tribe of Zebulun,(BC)
Jokneam,(BD) Kartah, 35 Dimnah and Nahalal,(BE) together with their pasturelands—four towns;
36 from the tribe of Reuben,
38 from the tribe of Gad,
Ramoth(BI) in Gilead(BJ) (a city of refuge for one accused of murder), Mahanaim,(BK) 39 Heshbon and Jazer,(BL) together with their pasturelands—four towns in all.
40 The total number of towns allotted to the Merarite clans, who were the rest of the Levites, came to twelve.(BM)
41 The towns of the Levites in the territory held by the Israelites were forty-eight in all, together with their pasturelands.(BN) 42 Each of these towns had pasturelands surrounding it; this was true for all these towns.
43 So the Lord gave Israel all the land he had sworn to give their ancestors,(BO) and they took possession(BP) of it and settled there.(BQ) 44 The Lord gave them rest(BR) on every side, just as he had sworn to their ancestors. Not one of their enemies(BS) withstood them; the Lord gave all their enemies(BT) into their hands.(BU) 45 Not one of all the Lord’s good promises(BV) to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.
