이스-보셋이 살해됨
4 사울의 아들 이스-보셋은 아브넬 이 헤브론에서 죽었다는 말을 듣고 두려워 맥이 쭉 빠졌으며 모든 이스라 엘 사람들도 놀라지 않을 수 없었다.
2-3 이스-보셋에게는바아나와레갑이 라는두명의군지휘관이있었다. 그 들은 형제로서 이스-보셋왕이 이끄 는 두 특공대의 대장들이며 베냐민 지 파의 브에롯 사람 림몬의 아들들이었 다. 이브에롯사람들은일찍깃다임 으로도망가서계속그곳에살고있 으나 여전히 베냐민 사람으로 인정되 었다.
4 사울의 아들 요나단에게는 므비보셋 이라는 절뚝발이 아들 하나가 있었다. 그는 사울과 요나단이 이스르엘 전쟁 에서전사했을때다섯살이었다. 그 들이 죽었다는 소식이 성에 전해지자 그아이의유모가그를안고급히도 망가다가 아이를 떨어뜨려 그때부터 절게 되었다.
5 어느 날 레갑과 바아나가 이스-보셋 의집을향해떠났다. 그들은정오쯤 되어그곳에도착했는데그때이스-보셋은낮잠을자고있었다.
6-7 그들은밀을가지러온척하고집 안으로 들어가 침실에서 자고 있는 이 스-보셋을 죽이고 그의 머리를 잘라 밤새도록 아라바 길로 도망쳐 나왔다.
8 그들은 헤브론에 도착하여 그 머리를 다윗에게 주면서 이렇게 말하였다. “보십시오! 왕을 죽이려고 하던 원수 사울의 아들 이스-보셋의 머리가 여 기 있습니다. 오늘 여호와께서 왕의 원수를 사울과 그의 후손들에게 갚으 셨습니다!”
9 그러자 다윗이 대답하였다. “나를 내 대적의 손에서 구원하신 여호와의 이 름으로 내가 맹세한다.
10 내가시글락에있을때어떤사람이나 에게 ‘사울이 죽었습니다’ 하고 말해 주었다. 그는 자기가 좋은 소식을 전해 주었다고 생각했으나 나는 그를 잡아 죽였다. 그것이바로그가전해준그 소식의대가였는데
11 하물며침실에누워있는죄없는사람 을죽인이악한들을내가어떻게죽 이지 않겠느냐? 내가 억울하게 죽은 이스-보셋의 원수를 너희에게 갚아 이땅에서너희를없애버리고말겠 다.”
12 그들을죽이라는다윗의명령이떨어 지자 다윗의 경호병들은 그들을 죽이 고그들의팔다리를자른다음그시 체는 헤브론 못가에 매어 달고 이스-보셋의 머리는 가져다가 헤브론에 있 는 아브넬의 묘실에 장사하였다.

Ish-Bosheth Murdered
4 When Ish-Bosheth son of Saul heard that Abner(A) had died in Hebron, he lost courage, and all Israel became alarmed. 2 Now Saul’s son had two men who were leaders of raiding bands. One was named Baanah and the other Rekab; they were sons of Rimmon the Beerothite from the tribe of Benjamin—Beeroth(B) is considered part of Benjamin, 3 because the people of Beeroth fled to Gittaim(C) and have resided there as foreigners to this day.
4 (Jonathan(D) son of Saul had a son who was lame in both feet. He was five years old when the news(E) about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up and fled, but as she hurried to leave, he fell and became disabled.(F) His name was Mephibosheth.)(G)
5 Now Rekab and Baanah, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, set out for the house of Ish-Bosheth,(H) and they arrived there in the heat of the day while he was taking his noonday rest.(I) 6 They went into the inner part of the house as if to get some wheat, and they stabbed(J) him in the stomach. Then Rekab and his brother Baanah slipped away.
7 They had gone into the house while he was lying on the bed in his bedroom. After they stabbed and killed him, they cut off his head. Taking it with them, they traveled all night by way of the Arabah.(K) 8 They brought the head(L) of Ish-Bosheth to David at Hebron and said to the king, “Here is the head of Ish-Bosheth son of Saul,(M) your enemy, who tried to kill you. This day the Lord has avenged(N) my lord the king against Saul and his offspring.”
9 David answered Rekab and his brother Baanah, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, “As surely as the Lord lives, who has delivered(O) me out of every trouble, 10 when someone told me, ‘Saul is dead,’ and thought he was bringing good news, I seized him and put him to death in Ziklag.(P) That was the reward I gave him for his news! 11 How much more—when wicked men have killed an innocent man in his own house and on his own bed—should I not now demand his blood(Q) from your hand and rid the earth of you!”
12 So David gave an order to his men, and they killed them.(R) They cut off their hands and feet and hung the bodies by the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-Bosheth and buried it in Abner’s tomb at Hebron.
