다윗과 시바
16 다윗이감람산마루턱을조금 지났을 때 므비보셋의 하인인 시바가 두 마리의 나귀에다 빵 200개, 건포도 100송이, 싱싱한 과일 100개, 그리고포도주한가죽부대를싣고 뒤쫓아왔다.
2 그러자 왕이 시바에게 물었다. “이것 이 웬일이냐?” “나귀는 왕의 가족이 타고 빵과 과일은 왕과 함께한 백성이 먹고 포도주는 그들이 광야에서 지칠 때 마시라고 가져왔습니다.”
3 “므비보셋은 어디 있느냐?” “예루살 렘에 머물러 있습니다. 그는 이스라엘 사람들이 자기 할아버지의 나라를 자 기에게 돌려 줄 것이라고 생각하고 있 습니다.”
4 “그렇다면 그에게 속한 것을 내가 모 두 너에게 주겠다.” “[a]나는 왕의 종입 니다. 아무쪼록내가왕앞에서은총 을 입게 하소서.”
다윗을 저주하는 시므이
5 다윗과 그의 일행이 바후림에 이르렀 을때한사람이마을에서나와그들 을 저주했는데 그는 사울의 집안 사람 중 하나인 게라의 아들 시므이라는 자 였다.
6 그가 다윗과 그의 신하들에게 돌을 던 졌으나 왕은 백성들과 경호병들에게 좌우로 싸여 있었다.
7-8 시므이는또다윗을보고저주하였 다. “살인자여! 악한이여! 여기서 사라 져라! 여호와께서 사울과 그 가족을 죽인죄를너에게갚으셨다. 네가사 울의 왕위를 빼앗았으나 이제 여호와 께서 그것을 너의 아들 압살롬에게 주 었구나! 너는사람을죽인죄로이제 벌을 받아 망하게 되었다!”
9 이때 스루야의 아들 아비새가 “어째서 왕은이죽은개같은녀석이왕을저 주하도록 내버려 두십니까? 제가 가서 당장 저놈의 목을 베겠습니다” 하였 다.
10 그러나 왕은 그에게 이렇게 대답하였 다. “이건 네가 상관할 일이 아니다. 여 호와께서나를저주하라고말씀하셨 기 때문에 그가 나를 저주하고 있다면 누가그에게 ‘네가어째서이렇게하 느냐?’ 고 말할 수 있겠느냐?
11 내 몸에서 난 아들도 나를 죽이려고 하 는데 하물며 이 베냐민 사람이야 말할 게 있겠느냐? 여호와께서 저에게 그렇 게 하라고 말씀하신 것이니 내버려 두 어라.
12 어쩌면 여호와께서 내가 당하는 어려 움을 보시고 오늘의 이 저주로 인해서 나를축복해주실지도모른다.”
13 그래서 다윗과 그를 따르는 사람들은 아무말없이길을갔으나시므이는 비탈길로 계속 따라오면서 여전히 저 주하고 돌을 던지며 티끌을 날렸다.
14 왕과그와함께한모든사람들이 [b]요단 에 이르렀을 때 그들은 몹시 지쳐서 그 곳에잠시머물러쉬었다.
아히도벨의 조언
15 한편압살롬과그의추종자들은예루 살렘에 들어왔고 아히도벨은 압살롬 과 함께 있었다.
16 이때 다윗의 친구인 아렉 사람 후새가 즉시 압살롬에게 가서 “대왕 만세! 대 왕 만세!” 하고 외치자
17 압살롬이 그에게 물었다. “이것이 당신 의 친구에 대한 우정이오? 어째서 당신 은친구와함께가지않았소?”
18-19 “나는 여호와와 이스라엘 백성이 택한자를위해일하고그와함께있 을것입니다. 내가전에는왕의부친 을 도왔으나 이제는 왕을 돕겠습니 다.”
20 그때압살롬이아히도벨에게 “다음에 는내가무엇을해야되겠소?” 하고묻 자
21 아히도벨이 이렇게 대답하였다. “왕의 아버지가 궁을 지키기 위해 이 곳에 남 겨 둔 후궁들이 있습니다. 왕은 그들과 동침하십시오. 그러면 왕의 부친이 왕 을 원수로 여기고 있다는 것을 모든 이 스라엘 사람들이 다 알게 될 것이며 왕 을 따르는 사람들은 크게 힘을 얻을 것 입니다.”
22 그래서 압살롬의 추종자들은 압살롬 을 위해 궁전 옥상에 천막을 쳐놓았으 며 압살롬은 모든 이스라엘 사람들이 보는 데서 자기 아버지의 후궁들과 동 침하였다.
23 당시아히도벨의조언은마치하나님 의 말씀과도 같아서 다윗은 물론 압살 롬도 그의 모든 조언을 그대로 따랐 다.

David and Ziba
16 When David had gone a short distance beyond the summit, there was Ziba,(A) the steward of Mephibosheth, waiting to meet him. He had a string of donkeys saddled and loaded with two hundred loaves of bread, a hundred cakes of raisins, a hundred cakes of figs and a skin of wine.(B)
2 The king asked Ziba, “Why have you brought these?”
Ziba answered, “The donkeys are for the king’s household to ride on, the bread and fruit are for the men to eat, and the wine is to refresh(C) those who become exhausted in the wilderness.”
3 The king then asked, “Where is your master’s grandson?”(D)
Ziba(E) said to him, “He is staying in Jerusalem, because he thinks, ‘Today the Israelites will restore to me my grandfather’s kingdom.’”
4 Then the king said to Ziba, “All that belonged to Mephibosheth(F) is now yours.”
“I humbly bow,” Ziba said. “May I find favor in your eyes, my lord the king.”
Shimei Curses David
5 As King David approached Bahurim,(G) a man from the same clan as Saul’s family came out from there. His name was Shimei(H) son of Gera, and he cursed(I) as he came out. 6 He pelted David and all the king’s officials with stones, though all the troops and the special guard were on David’s right and left. 7 As he cursed, Shimei said, “Get out, get out, you murderer, you scoundrel! 8 The Lord has repaid you for all the blood you shed in the household of Saul, in whose place you have reigned.(J) The Lord has given the kingdom into the hands of your son Absalom. You have come to ruin because you are a murderer!”(K)
9 Then Abishai(L) son of Zeruiah said to the king, “Why should this dead dog(M) curse my lord the king? Let me go over and cut off his head.”(N)
10 But the king said, “What does this have to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah?(O) If he is cursing because the Lord said to him, ‘Curse David,’ who can ask, ‘Why do you do this?’”(P)
11 David then said to Abishai and all his officials, “My son,(Q) my own flesh and blood, is trying to kill me. How much more, then, this Benjamite! Leave him alone; let him curse, for the Lord has told him to.(R) 12 It may be that the Lord will look upon my misery(S) and restore to me his covenant blessing(T) instead of his curse today.(U)”
13 So David and his men continued along the road while Shimei was going along the hillside opposite him, cursing as he went and throwing stones at him and showering him with dirt. 14 The king and all the people with him arrived at their destination exhausted.(V) And there he refreshed himself.
The Advice of Ahithophel and Hushai
15 Meanwhile, Absalom(W) and all the men of Israel came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel(X) was with him. 16 Then Hushai(Y) the Arkite, David’s confidant, went to Absalom and said to him, “Long live the king! Long live the king!”
17 Absalom said to Hushai, “So this is the love you show your friend? If he’s your friend, why didn’t you go with him?”(Z)
18 Hushai said to Absalom, “No, the one chosen by the Lord, by these people, and by all the men of Israel—his I will be, and I will remain with him. 19 Furthermore, whom should I serve? Should I not serve the son? Just as I served your father, so I will serve you.”(AA)
20 Absalom said to Ahithophel, “Give us your advice. What should we do?”
21 Ahithophel answered, “Sleep with your father’s concubines whom he left to take care of the palace. Then all Israel will hear that you have made yourself obnoxious to your father, and the hands of everyone with you will be more resolute.” 22 So they pitched a tent for Absalom on the roof, and he slept with his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.(AB)
23 Now in those days the advice(AC) Ahithophel gave was like that of one who inquires of God. That was how both David(AD) and Absalom regarded all of Ahithophel’s advice.
