ジフの人々によって、あわやサウル王に売り渡されそうになった時のダビデの詩。
54 ああ神よ。
大いなる力をふるって私をお救いください。
力強い腕で守ってください。
2 どうか、この祈りを聞き届けてくださいますように。
3 暴虐を働く者どもが、いどみかかってきます。
神のことなど気にもかけない冷酷な者たちが、
このいのちをつけねらっています。
4 しかし、神は助けてくださいます。
私の友なのですから。
5 敵の悪らつな仕打ちは、その頭上に戻って来ます。
ああ神よ。お約束どおりに事を運び、
悪人どもの息の根を止めてください。
6 主よ。私はあなたに心からのいけにえをささげ、
御名をほめたたえます。
それこそ道理にかなったことです。
7 神はすべての苦しみから私を救い出し、
敵を蹴散らしてくださいます。

For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A maskil[b] of David. When the Ziphites(A) had gone to Saul and said, “Is not David hiding among us?”
1 Save me(B), O God, by your name;(C)
vindicate me by your might.(D)
2 Hear my prayer, O God;(E)
listen to the words of my mouth.
