بنی اسرائیلیوں کی مردم شماری
1 خدا وند نے موسیٰ سے خیمہٴ اجتماع میں بات کی یہ سینائی کے صحرا میں ہوئی۔ یہ بات بنی اسرائیلیوں کے ساتھ مصر چھوڑنے کے بعد دُوسرے سال کے دُوسرے مہینے کے پہلے دن کی تھی۔ خدا وند نے موسیٰ سے کہا : 2 “سبھی بنی اسرائیلیوں کو گِنو ہر ایک آدمی کی فہرست اس کے خاندان اور اس کے خاندانی گروہ کے ساتھ بنا ؤ۔ 3 تم اور ہا رون اسرائیل کے تمام مردوں کو گِنو گے جن کی عمر بیس سال سے زیادہ ہے۔( یہ وہ ہیں جو اسرائیل کی فو ج میں خدمت کر تے ہیں ) ان کی فہرست ان کے گروہ کے مطا بق بنا ؤ۔ 4 ہر ایک خاندانی گروہ سے ایک آدمی تمہا ری مدد کرے گا۔ یہ آدمی اپنے خاندانی گروہ کا قا ئد ہو گا۔ 5 تمہا رے ساتھ رہنے اور تمہا ری مدد کر نے وا لے آدمیوں کے نام یہ ہیں :
رُوبن کے خاندانی گروہ سے الیصور شدیور کا بیٹا۔
6 شمعون کے خاندانی گروہ سے صُوری شدّی کا بیٹا سلُومی ایل۔
7 یہوداہ کے خاندانی گروہ سے عمّیندا ب کا بیٹا نحسون۔
8 اِشکار کے خاندانی گروہ سے ضُغر کا بیٹا نتنی ایل۔
9 زبولون کے خاندانی گروہ سے حیلون کا بیٹا الیاب۔
10 یُوسف کی نسل سےافرا ئیم کے خاندانی گروہ سے عمّ یہود کا بیٹا الیسمع۔
منسی کے خاندا نی گروہ سے فدا ہُصور کا بیٹا جملی ایل۔
11 بنیمین کے خاندانی گروہ سے جِد عونی کا بیٹا اِبدان۔
12 دان کے خاندانی گروہ سے عمّیشّدی کا بیٹا اخیعزر۔
13 آشر کے خاندانی گروہ سے عکران کا بیٹا فجعی ایل۔
14 جاد کے خاندانی گروہ سے دعُو ایل کا بیٹا اِلیاسف۔
15 نفتالی کے خاندانی گروہ سے عینان کا بیٹا اخِیرع۔”
16 یہ سبھی آدمی جماعت میں سے اپنے آ با ؤ اجداد کے خاندانی گروہ کے قائد چنے گئے۔ یہ لو گ اسرائیل کے قبیلوں کے سردار تھے۔
17 موسیٰ اور ہا رون نے اُن آدمیوں ( بنی اسرائیلیوں ) کو جسے کہ چُن لئے گئے تھے اپنے ساتھ لئے۔ 18 موسیٰ اور ہا رون نے تمام لوگوں کو دوسرے مہینے کے پہلے دن جمع کیا۔ پھر اس دن آدمیوں کی جن کی عمر بیس سال یا اس سے زیادہ تھی ا ن کے خاندان اور ان کے قبیلوں کے مطا بق فہرست تیار کی۔ 19 موسیٰ نے بالکل ویسا ہی کیا جیسا خداوند کا حکم تھا۔ موسیٰ نے لوگوں کو اس وقت گِنا جب وہ سینا ئی کے صحرا میں تھے۔
20 روبن کے خاندانی گروہ کو گنے گئے ( روبن اسرائیل کا پہلو ٹھا بیٹا تھا ) ان تمام آدمیوں کی فہرست تیار کی گئی جو بیس سال یا اس سے زیادہ عمر کے تھے اور فوج میں خدمت کر نے کے قابل تھے۔ ان کی فہرست ان کے قبیلوں اور ان کے خاندا نی گروہ کے ساتھ تیار کی گئی۔ 21 روبن کے خاندانی گروہ سے گِنے گئے آدمیوں کی تعداد ۴۶۵۰۰ تھی۔
22 شمعون کے خاندانی گروہ کو گنے گئے۔ بیس سال یا اس سے زیادہ عمر وا لے فوج میں خدمت کر نے کے قابل تمام آدمیوں کے ناموں کی فہرست تیا ر کی گئی۔ ان کی فہرست ان کے خاندان اور ان کے خاندانی گروہ کے مطا بق تیار کی گئی۔ 23 شمعون کے خاندانی گروہ کو گِننے پر تمام آدمیوں کی تعداد ۳۰۰, ۵۹ تھی۔
24 جاد کے خاندانی گروہ کو گِنے گئے۔ بیس سال یا اس سے زیادہ عمر کے اور فوج میں خدمت کر نے کے قابل تمام آدمیوں کے ناموں کی فہرست تیار کی گئی۔ اُن کی فہرست اور اُن کے خاندان اور خاندانی گروہ کے ساتھ تیار کی گئی۔ 25 جاد کے خاندانی گروہ کو گِننے پر مردوں کی تعداد ۶۵۰,۴۵ تھی۔
26 یہوداہ کے خاندانی گروہ کو گِنے گئے۔ بیس سال یا اس سے زیادہ عمر کے لو گ اور فوج میں خدمت کر نے کے قابل تمام مردوں کے ناموں کی فہرست تیار کی گئی۔ اُن کی فہرست اور اُن کے خاندان اور اُن کے خاندانی گروہ کے ساتھ تیار کی گئی۔ 27 یہوداہ کے خاندانی گروہ کو گِننے پر تمام تعداد ۶۰۰,۷۴ تھی۔
28 اِشکار کے خاندانی گروہ کو گنے گئے۔ بیس سال یا ا س سے زیادہ عمر کے اور فوج میں کام کر نے کے قابل تمام آدمی کے ناموں کی فہرست تیار کی گئی ان کی فہرست ان کے خاندانی گروہ کے ساتھ تیار کی گئی۔ 29 اِشکار کے خاندانی گروہ کو گننے پر مردوں کی تعداد۴۰۰,۵۴ تھی۔
30 زبولون کے خاندانی گروہ کو گنے گئے۔ بیس سال یا اس سے زیادہ عمرکے اور فوج میں کام کر نے کے قابل سبھی آدمی کے ناموں کی فہرست تیار کی گئی۔ ان کی فہرست اُن کے خاندان اور اُن کے خاندانی گروہ کے ساتھ تیار کی گئی۔ 31 زبولون کے خاندانی گروہ کو گننے پر مردوں کی تعداد۴۰۰ ,۵۷ تھی۔
32 یو سف کی نسل سے : افرائیم کے خاندانی گروہ کو گنا گیا۔بیس سال یا ا س سے زیادہ عمرکے اور فوج میں خدمت کر نے کے قابل سبھی آدمیوں کے ناموں کی فہرست تیار کی گئی۔ ان کی فہرست ان کے خاندان اور ان کے خاندا نی گروہ کے مطابق تیار کی گئی 33 افرائیم کے خاندانی گروہ کو گننے پر تمام مردوں کی تعداد ۵۰۰,۴۰ تھی۔
34 منسّی کے خاندانی گروہ کو گنے گئے۔ بیس سال یا اس سے زیادہ عمر کے اور فوج میں خدمت کر نے والے تمام مردوں کے ناموں کی فہرست تیار کی گئی۔ اُن کی فہرست اُن کے خاندانی گروہ کے مطا بق تیار کی گئی۔ 35 منّسی کے خاندانی گروہ کے آدمیوں کو گننے کے بعد اُن کی تعداد ۲۰۰,۳۲ تھی۔
36 بنیمین کے خاندانی گروہ کو گنے گئے۔ بیس سال یا اُس سے زیادہ عمر اور فوج میں خدمت کرنے کے قابل تمام مردوں کے ناموں کی فہرست تیار کی گئی۔ ان کی فہرست ان کے خاندان اور ان کے خاندانی گروہ کے ساتھ تیار کی گئی۔ 37 بنیمین کے خاندانی گروہ کو گننے پر مردوں کی تعداد ۴۰۰, ۳۵ تھی۔
38 دان کے خاندانی گروہ کو گنے گئے۔ بیس سال یا اُس سے زیادہ عمر کے اور فوج میں خدمت کر نے کے قابل تمام مردوں کے ناموں کی فہرست تیار کی گئی۔ اُن کی فہرست اُن کے خاندان اور اُن کے خا ندانی گروہ کے ساتھ تیار کی گئی۔ 39 دان کے خاندانی گروہ کے گننے پر ساری تعداد ۷۰۰ , ۶۲ تھی۔
40 آشر کے خاندانی گروہ کو گنے گئے۔ بیس سال یا اُس سے زیادہ عمر کے اور فوج میں خدمت کر نے کے قابل تمام مردوں کے ناموں کی فہرست تیار کی گئی۔ اُن کی فہرست اُن کے خاندان اور اُن کے خاندانی گروہ کے ساتھ تیار کی گئی۔ 41 آشر کے خاندانی گروہ کو گننے پر تمام مردوں کی تعداد ۵۰۰ ,۴۱ تھی۔
42 نفتالی کے خاندانی گروہ کو گنے گئے۔ بیس سال یا اُس سے زیادہ عمر کے اور فوج میں خدمت کر نے کے قابل تمام مردوں کے ناموں کی فہرست تیار کی گئی۔ اُن کی فہرست اُن کے خاندان اور خاندانی گروہ کے ساتھ تیار کی گئی۔ 43 نفتالی کے خاندانی گروہ کو گننے پر تما م مردوں کی تعداد ۴۰۰ ,۵۳ تھی۔
44 موسیٰ ہا رون اور اسرائیل کے قا ئدین نے اُن تمام مردوں کو گنا وہاں ۱۲ قائدین تھے۔( ہر خاندانی گروہ سے ایک قا ئد تھا۔) 45 اسرائیل کا ہر ایک مرد جو بیس سال یا اُس سے زیادہ عمر کے اور فوج میں کام کر نے کے قابل تھا گِنا گیا۔ اُن مردوں کی فہرست اُن کے خاندانی گروہ کے ساتھ تیار کی گئی۔ 46 آدمیوں کی ساری تعداد ۵۵۰, ۶۰۳ تھی۔
47 لا وی کے خاندانی گروہ سے خاندانوں کی فہرست اسرائیل کے دوسرے آدمیوں کے ساتھ تیار نہیں کی گئی۔ 48 خداوند نے موسیٰ سے کہا تھا۔ 49 لا وی کے خاندانی گروہ کے مردو ں کو تمہیں نہیں گِننا چا ہئے۔ 50 تم لا ویوں کو معاہدہ کے مقدس خیمہ اور اسکی چیزوں کے لئے ذمّہ دار مقرر کرو۔ وہ مقدس خیمہ اور اسکے سامانوں کو ضرور لے جا ئے اور اپنے خیموں کو مقدس خیمہ کے اطراف لگا ئے اور اس کی دیکھ بھا ل کرے۔ 51 جب کبھی بھی مقدس خیمہ کو کھسکا یا جا ئے تو صرف لا وی ہی اسے اتا رے۔ اور اسی طرح جب کبھی بھی مقدس خیمہ کو کہیں لگایا جا ئے تو صرف لا وی اسے لگا ئے گا۔ کو ئی دوسرا شخص اگر خیمہ کے نزدیک آئے تو اسے پھانسی دے دی جا ئے۔ 52 بنی اسرائیل اپنے خیمے الگ الگ گروہوں میں لگا ئیں گے۔ ہر ایک آدمی کو اپنا خیمہ اپنے خاندان کے جھنڈے کے پاس لگانا چا ہئے۔ 53 لیکن لا وی کے لوگوں کو اپنا خیمہ مقدس خیمہ کے چا روں طرف ڈالنا چا ہئے۔ اسے معاہدہ کی مقدس خیمہ کی حفا ظت کر نی چا ہئے تا کہ خداوند کا غصّہ بنی اسرائیلیوں کی جما عت کے خلا ف نہیں آئے گا۔”
54 اس لئے بنی اسرائیلیوں نے اُن تمام چیزوں کو کیا جس کا حکم خداوندنے موسیٰ کو دیا تھا۔

The Census
1 The Lord spoke to Moses in the tent of meeting(A) in the Desert of Sinai(B) on the first day of the second month(C) of the second year after the Israelites came out of Egypt.(D) He said: 2 “Take a census(E) of the whole Israelite community by their clans and families,(F) listing every man by name,(G) one by one. 3 You and Aaron(H) are to count according to their divisions all the men in Israel who are twenty years old or more(I) and able to serve in the army.(J) 4 One man from each tribe,(K) each of them the head of his family,(L) is to help you.(M) 5 These are the names(N) of the men who are to assist you:
from Reuben,(O) Elizur son of Shedeur;(P)
6 from Simeon,(Q) Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai;(R)
7 from Judah,(S) Nahshon son of Amminadab;(T)
8 from Issachar,(U) Nethanel son of Zuar;(V)
9 from Zebulun,(W) Eliab son of Helon;(X)
10 from the sons of Joseph:
from Ephraim,(Y) Elishama son of Ammihud;(Z)
from Manasseh,(AA) Gamaliel son of Pedahzur;(AB)
11 from Benjamin,(AC) Abidan son of Gideoni;(AD)
12 from Dan,(AE) Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai;(AF)
13 from Asher,(AG) Pagiel son of Okran;(AH)
16 These were the men appointed from the community, the leaders(AM) of their ancestral tribes.(AN) They were the heads of the clans of Israel.(AO)
17 Moses and Aaron took these men whose names had been specified, 18 and they called the whole community together on the first day of the second month.(AP) The people registered their ancestry(AQ) by their clans and families,(AR) and the men twenty years old or more(AS) were listed by name, one by one, 19 as the Lord commanded Moses. And so he counted(AT) them in the Desert of Sinai:
20 From the descendants of Reuben(AU) the firstborn son(AV) of Israel:
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, one by one, according to the records of their clans and families. 21 The number from the tribe of Reuben(AW) was 46,500.
22 From the descendants of Simeon:(AX)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were counted and listed by name, one by one, according to the records of their clans and families. 23 The number from the tribe of Simeon was 59,300.(AY)
24 From the descendants of Gad:(AZ)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 25 The number from the tribe of Gad(BA) was 45,650.
26 From the descendants of Judah:(BB)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 27 The number from the tribe of Judah(BC) was 74,600.
28 From the descendants of Issachar:(BD)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 29 The number from the tribe of Issachar(BE) was 54,400.(BF)
30 From the descendants of Zebulun:(BG)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 31 The number from the tribe of Zebulun was 57,400.(BH)
32 From the sons of Joseph:(BI)
From the descendants of Ephraim:(BJ)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 33 The number from the tribe of Ephraim(BK) was 40,500.
34 From the descendants of Manasseh:(BL)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 35 The number from the tribe of Manasseh was 32,200.
36 From the descendants of Benjamin:(BM)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 37 The number from the tribe of Benjamin(BN) was 35,400.
38 From the descendants of Dan:(BO)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 39 The number from the tribe of Dan was 62,700.(BP)
40 From the descendants of Asher:(BQ)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 41 The number from the tribe of Asher(BR) was 41,500.
42 From the descendants of Naphtali:(BS)
All the men twenty years old or more who were able to serve in the army were listed by name, according to the records of their clans and families. 43 The number from the tribe of Naphtali(BT) was 53,400.(BU)
44 These were the men counted by Moses and Aaron(BV) and the twelve leaders of Israel, each one representing his family. 45 All the Israelites twenty years old or more(BW) who were able to serve in Israel’s army were counted according to their families.(BX) 46 The total number was 603,550.(BY)
47 The ancestral tribe of the Levites,(BZ) however, was not counted(CA) along with the others. 48 The Lord had said to Moses: 49 “You must not count the tribe of Levi or include them in the census of the other Israelites. 50 Instead, appoint the Levites to be in charge of the tabernacle(CB) of the covenant law(CC)—over all its furnishings(CD) and everything belonging to it. They are to carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings; they are to take care of it and encamp around it. 51 Whenever the tabernacle(CE) is to move,(CF) the Levites are to take it down, and whenever the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall do it.(CG) Anyone else who approaches it is to be put to death.(CH) 52 The Israelites are to set up their tents by divisions, each of them in their own camp under their standard.(CI) 53 The Levites, however, are to set up their tents around the tabernacle(CJ) of the covenant law so that my wrath will not fall(CK) on the Israelite community. The Levites are to be responsible for the care of the tabernacle of the covenant law.(CL)”
54 The Israelites did all this just as the Lord commanded Moses.
