Isaiah 40:25-27
New American Bible (Revised Edition)
25 To whom can you liken me as an equal?
says the Holy One.
26 Lift up your eyes on high
and see who created[a] these:
He leads out their army and numbers them,
calling them all by name.
By his great might and the strength of his power
not one of them is missing!(A)
27 Why, O Jacob, do you say,[b]
and declare, O Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord,
and my right is disregarded by my God”?
Footnotes
- 40:26 Created: see note on Gn 1:1–2:3. By name: for he is their Creator.
- 40:27–28 The exiles, here called Jacob-Israel (Gn 32:29), must not give way to discouragement: their Lord is the eternal God.
