¹² “Whoever strikes a person so that he dies must be put to death.^{(A) 13} But if he did not intend any harm,^[a] and yet God allowed it to happen, I will appoint a place for you where he may flee.^{(B) 14} If a person schemes and willfully^[b] acts against his neighbor to murder him, you must take him from my altar to be put to death.^(C)

¹⁷ “If a man kills anyone, he must be put to death.^(A)

¹¹ But if someone hates his neighbor, lies in ambush for him, attacks him, and strikes him fatally, and flees to one of these cities, ¹² the elders of his city are to send for him, take him from there, and hand him over to the avenger of blood and he will die.
