⁷ At that time, Solomon built a high place^(A) for Chemosh,^(B) the abhorrent idol of Moab, and for Milcom,^[a](C) the abhorrent idol of the Ammonites, on the hill across from Jerusalem.^(D)

²⁵ “House of Israel, was it sacrifices and grain offerings that you presented to me during the forty years in the wilderness?^{(A) 26} But you have taken up^[a] Sakkuth your king and Kaiwan your star god,^[b] images you have made for yourselves.^{(B) 27} So I will send you into exile beyond Damascus.”^(C) The Lord, the God of Armies, is his name.^(D) He has spoken.

³⁶ This man led them out and performed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt,^(A) at the Red Sea, and in the wilderness for forty years.^(B)
