O God, why hast Thou cast us off for ever? Why doth Thine anger smoke against the sheep of Thy pasture?

God, why have you abandoned us forever? Why does your anger smolder at the sheep of your own pasture?

(A special psalm by Asaph.) Our God, why have you completely rejected us? Why are you so angry with the ones you care for?

Unto the end, corrupt not, a psalm of a canticle for Asaph.

This is a special song that Asaph wrote. God, have you turned against us for ever? Why are you so angry with us? We belong to you, so please take care of us, like a shepherd takes care of his sheep.
