‘Eved-Melekh left the palace and said to the king,
Ebedmelech from Ethiopia was an official at the palace, and he heard what they had done to me. So he went to speak with King Zedekiah, who was holding court at Benjamin Gate.

And Abdemelech went out of the king's house, and spoke to the king, saying:
Ebed Melech said, “My lord and king, these officials have done evil. They have treated Jeremiah the prophet badly. They have thrown him into a cistern and left him there to die.”
So Ebed-Melech quickly left the palace. He went to speak to the king. He said to him,
Ebed Melek left the palace and said to the king,

While the king was holding court in the Benjamin Gate, Ebed-melek went immediately from the palace to the king and said, “My master, O king—these men are committing a great crime in what they’re doing, throwing Jeremiah the prophet into the cistern and leaving him there to starve. He’s as good as dead. There isn’t a scrap of bread left in the city.”
Ebed-Melek went forth out of the king’s house and spoke to the king, saying,
Ebed Melech left the royal palace and spoke to the king at Benjamin Gate.
