Everyone will be shocked at what is happening, and, because of their sins, they will die a slow death.”
because bread and water shall fail them, and they shall be astonied one with another, and waste away in their iniquity.
So that when bread and water fail, every man may fall against his brother, and they may pine away in their iniquities.
That is because there will not be enough food and water for everyone. They will be terrified as they watch each other wasting away because of their sins.

Then he said to me, “Son of man, I’m going to cut off all food from Jerusalem. The people will live on starvation rations, worrying where the next meal’s coming from, scrounging for the next drink of water. Famine conditions. People will look at one another, see nothing but skin and bones, and shake their heads. This is what sin does.”

Son of man, I am going to cut off the food supply from Jerusalem. The people will slowly starve, living off minimal rations of food and water. As they eat their morsels of bread and drink their minimal ration of water, they will be constantly worrying about what they will eat and drink the next day.
