Lamentations 3:19-26

19 I remember my affliction and my wandering,
    the bitterness(A) and the gall.(B)
20 I well remember them,
    and my soul is downcast(C) within me.(D)
21 Yet this I call to mind
    and therefore I have hope:

22 Because of the Lord’s great love(E) we are not consumed,(F)
    for his compassions never fail.(G)
23 They are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.(H)
24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;(I)
    therefore I will wait for him.”

25 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him,
    to the one who seeks him;(J)
26 it is good to wait quietly(K)
    for the salvation of the Lord.(L)

Jeremiah 52:12-30

12 On the tenth day of the fifth(A) month, in the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan(B) commander of the imperial guard, who served the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem. 13 He set fire(C) to the temple(D) of the Lord, the royal palace and all the houses(E) of Jerusalem. Every important building he burned down. 14 The whole Babylonian army, under the commander of the imperial guard, broke down all the walls(F) around Jerusalem. 15 Nebuzaradan the commander of the guard carried into exile(G) some of the poorest people and those who remained in the city, along with the rest of the craftsmen[a] and those who had deserted(H) to the king of Babylon. 16 But Nebuzaradan left behind(I) the rest of the poorest people of the land to work the vineyards and fields.

17 The Babylonians broke up the bronze pillars,(J) the movable stands(K) and the bronze Sea(L) that were at the temple of the Lord and they carried all the bronze to Babylon.(M) 18 They also took away the pots, shovels, wick trimmers, sprinkling bowls,(N) dishes and all the bronze articles used in the temple service.(O) 19 The commander of the imperial guard took away the basins, censers,(P) sprinkling bowls, pots, lampstands,(Q) dishes(R) and bowls used for drink offerings(S)—all that were made of pure gold or silver.(T)

20 The bronze from the two pillars, the Sea and the twelve bronze bulls(U) under it, and the movable stands, which King Solomon had made for the temple of the Lord, was more than could be weighed.(V) 21 Each pillar was eighteen cubits high and twelve cubits in circumference[b]; each was four fingers thick, and hollow.(W) 22 The bronze capital(X) on top of one pillar was five cubits[c] high and was decorated with a network and pomegranates(Y) of bronze all around. The other pillar, with its pomegranates, was similar. 23 There were ninety-six pomegranates on the sides; the total number of pomegranates(Z) above the surrounding network was a hundred.(AA)

24 The commander of the guard took as prisoners Seraiah(AB) the chief priest, Zephaniah(AC) the priest next in rank and the three doorkeepers.(AD) 25 Of those still in the city, he took the officer in charge of the fighting men, and seven royal advisers. He also took the secretary(AE) who was chief officer in charge of conscripting the people of the land, sixty of whom were found in the city. 26 Nebuzaradan(AF) the commander took them all and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah. 27 There at Riblah,(AG) in the land of Hamath, the king had them executed.

So Judah went into captivity, away(AH) from her land. 28 This is the number of the people Nebuchadnezzar carried into exile:(AI)

in the seventh year, 3,023 Jews;

29 in Nebuchadnezzar’s eighteenth year,

832 people from Jerusalem;

30 in his twenty-third year,

745 Jews taken into exile(AJ) by Nebuzaradan the commander of the imperial guard.

There were 4,600 people in all.(AK)

Revelation 2:12-29

To the Church in Pergamum

12 “To the angel of the church in Pergamum(A) write:

These are the words of him who has the sharp, double-edged sword.(B) 13 I know where you live—where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith in me,(C) not even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness,(D) who was put to death in your city—where Satan lives.(E)

14 Nevertheless, I have a few things against you:(F) There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam,(G) who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that they ate food sacrificed to idols(H) and committed sexual immorality.(I) 15 Likewise, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans.(J) 16 Repent(K) therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.(L)

17 Whoever has ears, let them hear(M) what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious,(N) I will give some of the hidden manna.(O) I will also give that person a white stone with a new name(P) written on it, known only to the one who receives it.(Q)

To the Church in Thyatira

18 “To the angel of the church in Thyatira(R) write:

These are the words of the Son of God,(S) whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze.(T) 19 I know your deeds,(U) your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first.

20 Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel,(V) who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.(W) 21 I have given her time(X) to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling.(Y) 22 So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery(Z) with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. 23 I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds,(AA) and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.(AB)

24 Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets, ‘I will not impose any other burden on you,(AC) 25 except to hold on to what you have(AD) until I come.’(AE)

26 To the one who is victorious(AF) and does my will to the end,(AG) I will give authority over the nations(AH) 27 that one ‘will rule them with an iron scepter(AI) and will dash them to pieces like pottery’[a](AJ)—just as I have received authority from my Father. 28 I will also give that one the morning star.(AK) 29 Whoever has ears, let them hear(AL) what the Spirit says to the churches.
