5 Ha’aretz also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed torot, changed chok (ordinance), broken the Brit Olam.
6 Therefore hath the curse devoured Eretz, and they that dwell therein are guilty; therefore, the inhabitants of her [the earth] are diminished, and few enosh (humankind) left.

5 The earth is defiled(A) by its people;
they have disobeyed(B) the laws,
violated the statutes
and broken the everlasting covenant.(C)
6 Therefore a curse(D) consumes the earth;
its people must bear their guilt.
Therefore earth’s inhabitants are burned up,(E)
and very few are left.
7 The new wine dries up(F) and the vine withers;(G)
all the merrymakers groan.(H)
