⁹ Bring to an end the violence of the wicked
    and make the righteous secure—^(A)
you, the righteous God^(B)
    who probes minds and hearts.^(C)

¹⁶ The Lord is known by his acts of justice;
    the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands.^[a](A)

⁵ The Lord examines the righteous,^(A)
    but the wicked, those who love violence,
    he hates with a passion.^(B)

²⁰ But the wicked will perish:^(A)
    Though the Lord’s enemies are like the flowers of the field,
    they will be consumed, they will go up in smoke.^(B)

²⁷ Those who are far from you will perish;^(A)
    you destroy all who are unfaithful^(B) to you.

²³ He will repay^(A) them for their sins
    and destroy^(B) them for their wickedness;
    the Lord our God will destroy them.

⁴³ Many times he delivered them,^(A)
    but they were bent on rebellion^(B)
    and they wasted away in their sin.

¹⁰ The wicked will see^(A) and be vexed,
    they will gnash their teeth^(B) and waste away;^(C)
    the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.^(D)

¹¹ May slanderers not be established in the land;
    may disaster hunt down the violent.^(A)
