⁷ They shall keep guard over him and over the whole congregation before the tent of meeting, ^(A)as they minister at the tabernacle. ⁸ They shall guard all the furnishings of the tent of meeting, and keep guard over the people of Israel as they minister at the tabernacle.

³⁸ Those who were to camp before the tabernacle on the east, before the tent of meeting toward the sunrise, were Moses and Aaron and his sons, ^(A)guarding the sanctuary itself, to protect^[a] the people of Israel. And any outsider who came near was to be put to death.

²⁶ They minister^[a] to their brothers in the tent of meeting ^(A)by keeping guard, but they shall do no service. Thus shall you do to the Levites in assigning their duties.”

¹⁹ Even when the cloud continued over the tabernacle many days, the people of Israel ^(A)kept the charge of the Lord and did not set out.

²³ At the command of the Lord they camped, and at the command of the Lord they set out. ^(A)They kept the charge of the Lord, at the command of the Lord by Moses.

³ They shall keep guard over you and ^(A)over the whole tent, ^(B)but shall not come near to the vessels of the sanctuary or to the altar ^(C)lest they, and you, die. ⁴ They shall join you and keep guard over the tent of meeting for all the service of the tent, ^(D)and no outsider shall come near you. ⁵ And you shall ^(E)keep guard over the sanctuary and over the altar, ^(F)that there may never again be wrath on the people of Israel.

³⁰ And from the people of Israel's half you shall take ^(A)one drawn out of every fifty, of the people, of the oxen, of the donkeys, and of the flocks, of all the cattle, and give them to the Levites ^(B)who keep guard over the tabernacle of the Lord.”

^47 (A)from the people of Israel's half Moses took one of every 50, both of persons and of beasts, and gave them to the Levites who kept guard over the tabernacle of the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.

³² Thus ^(A)they were to keep charge of the tent of meeting and the sanctuary, and to attend the sons of Aaron, their brothers, for the ^(B)service of the house of the Lord.

¹¹ They offer to the Lord ^(A)every morning and every evening burnt offerings and incense of sweet spices, set out ^(B)the showbread on the table of pure gold, ^(C)and care for the golden lampstand that its lamps may ^(D)burn every evening. For we ^(E)keep the charge of the Lord our God, but you have forsaken him.
