Zelophehad’s Daughters^(A)

27 The daughters of Zelophehad^(B) son of Hepher,^(C) the son of Gilead,^(D) the son of Makir,^(E) the son of Manasseh, belonged to the clans of Manasseh son of Joseph. The names of the daughters were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milkah and Tirzah. They came forward

³⁹ The descendants of Makir^(A) son of Manasseh went to Gilead,^(B) captured it and drove out the Amorites^(C) who were there.

⁴⁰ So Moses gave Gilead to the Makirites,^(A) the descendants of Manasseh, and they settled there.

Inheritance of Zelophehad’s Daughters^(A)

36 The family heads of the clan of Gilead^(B) son of Makir,^(C) the son of Manasseh, who were from the clans of the descendants of Joseph,^(D) came and spoke before Moses and the leaders,^(E) the heads of the Israelite families.

¹⁵ And I gave Gilead to Makir.^(A)

17 This was the allotment for the tribe of Manasseh^(A) as Joseph’s firstborn,^(B) that is, for Makir,^(C) Manasseh’s firstborn. Makir was the ancestor of the Gileadites, who had received Gilead^(D) and Bashan^(E) because the Makirites were great soldiers.
