²² So you also have sorrow^[a] now. But I will see you again. Your hearts will rejoice,^(A) and no one will take away your joy from you.^(B)

⁴ I am very frank with you; I have great pride in you. I am filled with encouragement; I am overflowing with joy in all our afflictions.

⁴ always praying with joy for all of you in my every prayer,

²⁵ Since I am persuaded of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith,^(A)

¹⁷ But even if I am poured out^(A) as a drink offering^(B) on the sacrificial service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. ¹⁸ In the same way you should also be glad and rejoice with me.

Knowing Christ

3 In addition, my brothers and sisters, rejoice^(A) in the Lord. To write to you again about this is no trouble for me and is a safeguard for you.

4 So then, my dearly loved and longed for brothers and sisters, my joy and crown,^(A) in this manner stand firm^(B) in the Lord, dear friends.

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

Paul’s Ministry

²⁴ Now I rejoice in my sufferings^(A) for you, and I am completing in my flesh what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for his body,^(B) that is, the church.
