The First Disciples

¹⁸ As^(A) he was walking along the Sea of Galilee,^(B) he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter), and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea—for they were fishermen.

² These are the names of the twelve apostles:^(A) First, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

¹⁴ Simon, whom he also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; James and John; Philip and Bartholomew;

⁴⁰ Andrew,^(A) Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard John and followed him.

⁴⁴ Now Philip was from Bethsaida,^(A) the hometown of Andrew and Peter.
