³⁰ Then they spit on Him, took the reed, and kept hitting Him on the head.

³⁴ and they will mock Him, spit on Him, flog^[a] Him, and kill Him, and He will rise^(A) after three days.”^(B)

Jesus Mocked and Beaten

⁶³ The men who were holding Jesus started mocking and beating Him.^{(A) 64} After blindfolding Him, they kept^[a] asking, “Prophesy! Who hit You?” ⁶⁵ And they were saying many other blasphemous^(B) things against Him.

²² When He had said these things, one of the temple police standing by slapped Jesus, saying, “Is this the way you answer the high priest?”
