³² For John came to you in the way of righteousness,^(A) and you didn’t believe him. Tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him, but you, when you saw it, didn’t even change your minds then and believe him.

¹² Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they asked him, “Teacher, what should we do?”^(A)

²⁵ This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit,^[a] he spoke and taught the things about Jesus accurately, although he knew only John’s baptism.^(A)

³ “Then what baptism were you baptized with?” he asked them.

“With John’s baptism,” they replied.
