3 And the tempter approached and[a] said to him, “If you are the Son of God, order that these stones become bread.” 4 But he answered and[b] said, “It is written, ‘Man will not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God.”[c]
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city[d] and placed him on the highest point of the temple

New International Version
3 The tempter(A) came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God,(B) tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’[a]”(C)
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city(D) and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.
