2 He said to his helpers, “This must be John the Baptist. He has risen from the dead. That is why these powerful works are done by him.” 3 For Herod had taken John and put him in prison. It was because of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip. 4 For John had said to him, “It is against the Law for you to have her.”

3 Now Herod had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison(B) because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,(C) 4 for John had been saying to him: “It is not lawful for you to have her.”(D)
