Have No Fear

⁴ “I tell you, my friends, ^(A)do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do.

¹² and when the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ Then they ^(A)will kill me, but they will let you live. ¹³ Say you are my sister, that it may go well with me because of you, and that my life may be spared for your sake.”

² And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, ^(A)“She is my sister.” And Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah.

¹¹ Abraham said, “I did it because I thought, ^(A)There is no fear of God at all in this place, and ^(B)they will kill me because of my wife.

⁷ When the men of the place asked him about his wife, ^(A)he said, “She is my sister”, for ^(B)he feared to say, “My wife,” thinking, “lest the men of the place should kill me because of Rebekah”, because ^(C)she was attractive in appearance.

⁴² Nevertheless, ^(A)many even of the authorities believed in him, but ^(B)for fear of the Pharisees they did not ^(C)confess it, so that they would not be ^(D)put out of the synagogue; ^43 (E)for they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God.
