⁶⁶Everyone who heard about this wondered what this child would grow up to be. They knew the Lord was with him.

⁶⁷The Holy Spirit came upon Zechariah, and he began to speak:

⁶⁸Praise the Lord,
the God of Israel!
He has come
to save his people.

⁶⁶Everyone who heard this wondered about it, asking, “What then is this child going to be?” For the Lord’s hand was with him.^(A)

⁶⁷His father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit^(B) and prophesied:^(C)

because he has come to his people and redeemed them.^(E)
