¹¹ it is a chronic skin disease^(A) and the priest shall pronounce them unclean. He is not to isolate them, because they are already unclean.

² “Command the Israelites to send away from the camp anyone who has a defiling skin disease^[a](A) or a discharge^(B) of any kind, or who is ceremonially unclean^(C) because of a dead body.^(D)

³ Send away male and female alike; send them outside the camp so they will not defile their camp, where I dwell among them.^(A)”

¹⁴ The Lord replied to Moses, “If her father had spit in her face,^(A) would she not have been in disgrace for seven days? Confine her outside the camp^(B) for seven days; after that she can be brought back.”

¹⁵ So Miriam was confined outside the camp^(A) for seven days,^(B) and the people did not move on till she was brought back.

²⁰ But if those who are unclean do not purify themselves, they must be cut off from the community, because they have defiled^(A) the sanctuary of the Lord.^(B) The water of cleansing has not been sprinkled on them, and they are unclean.^(C)

²⁴ On the seventh day wash your clothes and you will be clean.^(A) Then you may come into the camp.^(B)”

²¹ King Uzziah had leprosy until the day he died. He lived in a separate house^[a](A)—leprous, and banned from the temple of the Lord. Jotham his son had charge of the palace and governed the people of the land.
