9 But when the Israelites cried out to the Lord,(A) he raised up a savior for them, to save them. It was Othniel, son of Caleb’s younger brother Kenaz.(B) 10 The spirit of the Lord came upon him,(C) and he judged Israel. When he marched out to war, the Lord delivered Cushan-rishathaim, king of Aram, into his power, and his hold on Cushan-rishathaim was firm. 11 So the land was at rest for forty years,(D) until Othniel, son of Kenaz, died.

9 But when they cried out(A) to the Lord, he raised up for them a deliverer,(B) Othniel(C) son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, who saved them. 10 The Spirit of the Lord came on him,(D) so that he became Israel’s judge[a] and went to war. The Lord gave Cushan-Rishathaim(E) king of Aram(F) into the hands of Othniel, who overpowered him. 11 So the land had peace(G) for forty years,(H) until Othniel son of Kenaz(I) died.
