    Does the Almighty pervert what is right?^(B)

³ Does it please you to oppress me,^(A)
    to spurn the work of your hands,^(B)
    while you smile on the plans of the wicked?^(C)

⁴ Who can bring what is pure^(A) from the impure?^(B)
    No one!^(C)

¹⁴ “What are mortals, that they could be pure,
    or those born of woman,^(A) that they could be righteous?^(B)

¹⁴ Yet they say to God, ‘Leave us alone!^(A)
    We have no desire to know your ways.^(B)

⁴ How then can a mortal be righteous before God?
    How can one born of woman be pure?^(A)

¹⁵ Did not he who made me in the womb make them?^(A)
    Did not the same one form us both within our mothers?^(B)

²² for if I were skilled in flattery,
    my Maker^(A) would soon take me away.^(B)

¹⁰ But no one says, ‘Where is God my Maker,^(A)
    who gives songs^(B) in the night,^(C)
