¹⁸ The ^[a]children gather wood, the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead dough to make sacrificial cakes for the queen of heaven; and they ^(A)pour out drink offerings to other gods in order to ^(B)provoke Me to anger.

¹⁸ But since we stopped burning ^[a]sacrifices to the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have ^(A)lacked everything, and have met our end by the sword and by famine.”

²⁸ When I had ^(A)brought them into the land which I swore to give to them, then they saw every ^(B)high hill and every tree thick with branches, and there they offered their sacrifices and there they presented the provocation of their offering. There also they made their soothing aroma and there they poured out their drink offerings.
