⁷ Then afterward,” declares the Lord, “^(A)I will hand Zedekiah king of Judah, his servants, and the people, that is, those who survive in this city from the plague, the sword, and the famine, over to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, to their enemies, and to those who seek their lives; and he will strike and kill them with the edge of the sword. He ^(B)will not spare them nor have pity nor compassion.”’

⁸ ‘But like the ^(A)bad figs which cannot be eaten due to rottenness,’ indeed, this is what the Lord says, ‘so will I give up ^(B)Zedekiah king of Judah and his officials, and the ^(C)remnant of Jerusalem who remain in this land, and the ones who live in the land of ^(D)Egypt.

¹² The ^(A)prince who is among them will load his baggage on his shoulder in the dark and go out. ^[a]They will dig a hole through the wall to bring it out through it. He will cover his face so that he cannot see the land with his eyes. ¹³ I will also spread My ^(B)net over him, and he will be caught in My net. And I will bring him to Babylon in the land of the Chaldeans; yet he will ^(C)not see it, though he will die there.

¹⁹ Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: “As I live, My oath which he despised and My covenant which he broke, I will certainly ^[a]inflict on his head. ²⁰ And I will spread My ^(A)net over him, and he will be ^(B)caught in My net. Then I will bring him to Babylon and ^(C)enter into judgment with him there regarding the unfaithful act which he has committed against Me.
