²⁵ For this reason the ^(A)anger of the Lord has burned against His people,
And He has stretched out His hand against them and struck them.
And the ^(B)mountains quaked, and their ^(C)corpses ^[a]lay like refuse in the middle of the streets.
^(D)Despite all this, His anger ^[b]is not spent,
But His ^(E)hand is still stretched out.

²⁶ He will also lift up a ^(F)flag to the distant ^[c]nation,
And ^(G)whistle for it ^(H)from the ends of the earth;
And behold, it will ^(I)come with speed swiftly.
^27 (J)No one in it is tired or stumbles,
No one slumbers or sleeps;
Nor is the ^(K)undergarment at his waist loosened,
Nor his sandal strap broken.
^28 [d](L)Its arrows are sharp and all its bows are bent;
The hoofs of its horses ^[e]seem like flint, and its chariot ^(M)wheels like a storm wind.
²⁹ Its ^(N)roaring is like a lioness, and it roars like young lions;
It growls as it ^(O)seizes the prey
And carries it off with ^(P)no one to save it.
³⁰ And it will ^(Q)roar against it on that day like the roaring of the sea.
If one ^(R)looks across to the land, behold, there is darkness and distress;
Even the light is darkened by its clouds.

¹² Oh, the uproar of many peoples
^(A)Who roar like the roaring of the seas,
And the rumbling of nations
Who rush on like the ^(B)rumbling of mighty waters!
¹³ The ^(C)nations rumble on like the rumbling of many waters,
But He will ^(D)rebuke them, and they will flee far away,
And be chased ^(E)like chaff on the mountains before the wind,
Or like whirling dust before a gale.
¹⁴ At evening time, behold, there is terror!
Before morning ^(F)they are gone.
This will be the ^[a]fate of those who plunder us
And the lot of those who pillage us.
