⁵ My heart cries out for Moab;
His fugitives are as far as ^(A)Zoar and Eglath-shelishiyah,
For they go up the ^(B)ascent of Luhith weeping;
Indeed, on the road to Horonaim they raise a cry of distress ^(C)over their collapse.

³ For this reason my ^(A)loins are full of anguish;
Pains have seized me like the pains of a ^(B)woman in labor.
I am so bewildered I cannot hear, so terrified I cannot see.

⁴ Therefore I say, “Look away from me,
Let me ^(A)weep bitterly,
Do not ^[a]try to comfort me concerning the destruction of the daughter of my people.”

9 ^[a](A)Oh, that my head were waters
And my eyes a fountain of tears,
That I might weep day and night
For those slain of the ^(B)daughter of my people!

⁹ But if I say, “I will not ^(A)remember Him
Nor speak anymore in His name,”
Then in ^(B)my heart it becomes like a burning fire
Shut up in my bones;
And I am tired of holding it in,
And ^(C)I cannot endure it.
