How the oppressor^(C) has come to an end!
    How his fury^[a] has ended!

⁴ Let the Moabite fugitives stay with you;
    be their shelter^(A) from the destroyer.”

The oppressor^(B) will come to an end,
    and destruction will cease;^(C)
    the aggressor will vanish from the land.

⁵ But your many enemies will become like fine dust,^(A)
    the ruthless^(B) hordes like blown chaff.^(C)
Suddenly,^(D) in an instant,

²⁰ The ruthless^(A) will vanish,^(B)
    the mockers^(C) will disappear,
    and all who have an eye for evil^(D) will be cut down—

²⁶ I will make your oppressors^(A) eat^(B) their own flesh;
    they will be drunk on their own blood,^(C) as with wine.
Then all mankind will know^(D)
    that I, the Lord, am your Savior,^(E)
    your Redeemer,^(F) the Mighty One of Jacob.^(G)”

¹³ that you forget^(A) the Lord your Maker,^(B)
    who stretches out the heavens^(C)
    and who lays the foundations of the earth,
that you live in constant terror^(D) every day
    because of the wrath of the oppressor,
    who is bent on destruction?
For where is the wrath of the oppressor?^(E)

¹⁴ In righteousness^(A) you will be established:^(B)
Tyranny^(C) will be far from you;
    you will have nothing to fear.^(D)
Terror^(E) will be far removed;
    it will not come near you.

¹⁸ No longer will violence^(A) be heard in your land,
    nor ruin or destruction^(B) within your borders,
but you will call your walls Salvation^(C)
    and your gates Praise.^(D)
