¹⁷ I will make justice^(A) the measuring line
    and righteousness the plumb line;^(B)
hail^(C) will sweep away your refuge, the lie,
    and water will overflow^(D) your hiding place.

¹⁸ Yet the Lord longs^(A) to be gracious to you;
    therefore he will rise up to show you compassion.^(B)
For the Lord is a God of justice.^(C)
    Blessed are all who wait for him!^(D)

⁵ The Lord is exalted,^(A) for he dwells on high;^(B)
    he will fill Zion with his justice^(C) and righteousness.^(D)

⁸ “For I, the Lord, love justice;^(A)
    I hate robbery and wrongdoing.
In my faithfulness I will reward my people
    and make an everlasting covenant^(B) with them.
