¹⁵ The Lord God took the man and placed him in the garden of Eden to work it and watch over it.

¹² “Do your work^(A) for six days but rest on the seventh day so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your female slave as well as the resident alien may be refreshed.

¹⁴ And he replied, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”^(A)

³³ They set out from the mountain of the Lord on a three-day journey with the ark of the Lord’s covenant traveling ahead of them for those three days to seek a resting place for them.^(A)

³⁶ When it came to rest, he would say:

⁹ Indeed, you have not yet come into the resting place^(A) and the inheritance^(B) the Lord your God is giving you. ¹⁰ When you cross the Jordan and live in the land the Lord your God is giving you to inherit,^(C) and he gives you rest from all the enemies around you and you live in security,

¹⁹ When the Lord your God gives you rest^(A) from all the enemies around you in the land the Lord your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance,^(B) blot out the memory of Amalek under heaven. Do not forget.^(C)

⁶⁵ You will find no peace among those nations, and there will be no resting place^(A) for the sole of your foot. There the Lord will give you a trembling heart, failing eyes, and a despondent spirit.

¹³ “Remember what Moses the Lord’s servant commanded you when he said, ‘The Lord your God will give you rest, and he will give you this land.’^(A)
