18 Now ^(A)the Lord appeared to ^[a]Abraham by the ^[b](B)oaks of Mamre, while he was sitting at the tent door in the heat of the day. ² When he raised his eyes and looked, behold, three ^(C)men were standing opposite him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed down to the ground,

Jacob Wrestles

²⁴ Then Jacob was left alone, and a man ^(A)wrestled with him until daybreak.

³⁰ So Jacob named the place ^[a]Peniel, for he said, “^(A)I have seen God face to face, yet my ^[b]life has been ^[c]spared.”

³¹ Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw ^(A)the angel of the Lord standing in the way with his sword drawn in his hand; and he bowed ^[a]all the way to the ground.
