6 For the land has been without food these two years. And there are five more years without plowing or gathering. 7 God sent me before you to make sure that your people will keep living on the earth. Now many of you will be saved. 8 So it was not you who sent me here, but God. He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and ruler of all his house, and of all the land of Egypt.

6 For two years now there has been famine(A) in the land, and for the next five years there will be no plowing and reaping. 7 But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant(B) on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.[a](C)
8 “So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God.(D) He made me father(E) to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt.(F)
