¹¹ Judah then said to his daughter-in-law^(A) Tamar,^(B) “Live as a widow in your father’s household^(C) until my son Shelah^(D) grows up.”^(E) For he thought, “He may die too, just like his brothers.” So Tamar went to live in her father’s household.

¹⁵ “‘Do not have sexual relations with your daughter-in-law.^(A) She is your son’s wife; do not have relations with her.^(B)

¹² “‘If a man has sexual relations with his daughter-in-law,^(A) both of them are to be put to death. What they have done is a perversion; their blood will be on their own heads.

Naomi and Ruth Return to Bethlehem

⁶ When Naomi heard in Moab^(A) that the Lord had come to the aid of his people^(B) by providing food^(C) for them, she and her daughters-in-law^(D) prepared to return home from there.

²² So Naomi returned from Moab accompanied by Ruth the Moabite,^(A) her daughter-in-law,^(B) arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest^(C) was beginning.^(D)
