^3 (A)Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; ^(B)but I will not go up among you, ^(C)lest I consume you on the way, for you are a ^(D)stiff-necked people.”

⁵ For the Lord had said to Moses, “Say to the people of Israel, ‘You are a ^(A)stiff-necked people; if for a single moment I should go up among you, I would ^(B)consume you. So now ^(C)take off your ornaments, that I may know what to do with you.’”

⁹ And he said, “If now I have found favour in your sight, O Lord, please ^(A)let the Lord go in the midst of us, for ^(B)it is a stiff-necked people, and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for ^(C)your inheritance.”

⁶ “Know, therefore, that the Lord your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are ^(A)a stubborn people.

The Golden Calf

^13 (A)“Furthermore, the Lord said to me, ‘I have seen this people, and behold, it is ^(B)a stubborn people.

²⁷ For I know how rebellious and ^(A)stubborn you are. Behold, even today while I am yet alive with you, ^(B)you have been rebellious against the Lord. How much more after my death!

^8 (A)Do not now be stiff-necked as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to the Lord and come to his sanctuary, which he has consecrated for ever, and serve the Lord your God, ^(B)that his fierce anger may turn away from you.

^51 (A)“You stiff-necked people, ^(B)uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. ^(C)As your fathers did, so do you.
