²² “You must not mistreat any widow or fatherless child.^(A)

¹⁷ Do not deny justice to a resident alien or fatherless child, and do not take a widow’s garment as security.

³ This is what the Lord says: Administer justice and righteousness.^(A) Rescue the victim of robbery from his oppressor.^(B) Don’t exploit or brutalize the resident alien, the fatherless, or the widow.^(C) Don’t shed innocent blood in this place.

⁷ Father and mother are treated with contempt,^(A) and the resident alien is exploited within you. The fatherless and widow are oppressed in you.^(B)

¹⁰ Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the resident alien or the poor,^(A) and do not plot evil in your hearts against one another.’^(B)
