24 An altar of earth make for me, and sacrifice upon it your burnt offerings and communion sacrifices, your sheep and your oxen.(A) In every place where I cause my name to be invoked[a] I will come to you and bless you. 25 But if you make an altar of stone for me,(B) do not build it of cut stone, for by putting a chisel to it you profane it.

Altar on Mount Ebal. 30 [a](A)Later, on Mount Ebal, Joshua built to the Lord, the God of Israel, an altar 31 of unhewn stones on which no iron tool had been used,(B) just as Moses, the servant of the Lord, had commanded the Israelites, as recorded in the book of the law. On this altar they sacrificed burnt offerings to the Lord and made communion sacrifices.
