Moses Flees to Midian

¹¹ One day, ^(A)when Moses had grown up, he went out to his people and looked on their ^(B)burdens, and he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his people.^[a]

⁴ But the king of Egypt said to them, “Moses and Aaron, why do you take the people away from their work? Get back to your ^(A)burdens.” ⁵ And Pharaoh said, “Behold, ^(B)the people of the land are now many,^[a] and you make them rest from their burdens!”

⁶ Say therefore to the people of Israel, ^(A)‘I am the Lord, and ^(B)I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from slavery to them, and ^(C)I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgement. ⁷ I ^(D)will take you to be my people, and ^(E)I will be your God, and you shall know that ^(F)I am the Lord your God, who has brought you out ^(G)from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
