Then God said, “Do not come any closer. Take off your sandals, because you are standing on holy ground. I am the God of your ancestors—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Moses covered his face because he was afraid to look at God.

The Lord said, “I have seen the troubles my people have suffered in Egypt, and I have heard their cries when the Egyptian slave masters hurt them. I am concerned about their pain, and I have come down to save them from the Egyptians. I will bring them out of that land and lead them to a good land with lots of room—a fertile land. It is the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. I have heard the cries of the people of Israel, and I have seen the way the Egyptians have made life hard for them. 10 So now I am sending you to the king of Egypt. Go! Bring my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt!”

“Do not come any closer,”(A) God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”(B) Then he said, “I am the God of your father,[a] the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.”(C) At this, Moses hid(D) his face, because he was afraid to look at God.(E)

The Lord said, “I have indeed seen(F) the misery(G) of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned(H) about their suffering.(I) So I have come down(J) to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land,(K) a land flowing with milk and honey(L)—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites(M) and Jebusites.(N) And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing(O) them. 10 So now, go. I am sending(P) you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.”(Q)
