Ecclesiastes 12:7-9

Modern English Version

⁷The dust returns to the earth where it was,
and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

⁸It is all vanity, says the Preacher;
all is vanity.

⁹And in addition to being wise, the Preacher still taught the people knowledge, and he considered, sought out, and arranged many proverbs.

Ecclesiastes 12:7-9

⁷and the dust returns^(A) to the ground it came from,
and the spirit returns to God^(B) who gave it.^(C)

⁸“Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher.^[a]^(D)
“Everything is meaningless!^(E)”

⁹Not only was the Teacher wise, but he also imparted knowledge to the people. He pondered and searched out and set in order many proverbs.^(F)
