¹⁹ When the Lord your God gives you rest^(A) from all the enemies^(B) around you in the land he is giving you to possess as an inheritance, you shall blot out the name of Amalek^(C) from under heaven. Do not forget!

²⁰ “But I did obey^(A) the Lord,” Saul said. “I went on the mission the Lord assigned me. I completely destroyed the Amalekites and brought back Agag their king.

¹⁷ David fought^(A) them from dusk until the evening of the next day, and none of them got away, except four hundred young men who rode off on camels and fled.^{(B) 18} David recovered^(C) everything the Amalekites had taken, including his two wives. ¹⁹ Nothing was missing: young or old, boy or girl, plunder or anything else they had taken. David brought everything back. ²⁰ He took all the flocks and herds, and his men drove them ahead of the other livestock, saying, “This is David’s plunder.”

¹² Edom^[a](A) and Moab,^(B) the Ammonites^(C) and the Philistines,^(D) and Amalek.^(E) He also dedicated the plunder taken from Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

¹¹ King David dedicated these articles to the Lord, as he had done with the silver and gold he had taken from all these nations: Edom^(A) and Moab, the Ammonites and the Philistines, and Amalek.^(B)
