¹⁰ Remember the day you stood before the Lord your God at Horeb,^(A) when he said to me, “Assemble the people before me to hear my words so that they may learn^(B) to revere^(C) me as long as they live in the land^(D) and may teach^(E) them to their children.”

⁴ The Lord wrote on these tablets what he had written before, the Ten Commandments^(A) he had proclaimed^(B) to you on the mountain, out of the fire, on the day of the assembly.^(C) And the Lord gave them to me.

¹⁶ For this is what you asked of the Lord your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said, “Let us not hear the voice of the Lord our God nor see this great fire anymore, or we will die.”^(A)

¹⁷ Then Moses led the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.^(A)
