47 Because you didn’t serve the Lord your God with joy and a cheerful heart,(A) even though you had an abundance of everything, 48 you will serve your enemies that the Lord will send against you, in famine, thirst, nakedness, and a lack of everything. He will place an iron yoke(B) on your neck until he has destroyed you.

47 Because you did not serve(A) the Lord your God joyfully and gladly(B) in the time of prosperity, 48 therefore in hunger and thirst,(C) in nakedness and dire poverty, you will serve the enemies the Lord sends against you. He will put an iron yoke(D) on your neck(E) until he has destroyed you.
