If cases come before your courts that are too difficult for you to judge(A)—whether bloodshed, lawsuits or assaults(B)—take them to the place the Lord your God will choose.(C)

But if the man doesn’t want to marry his sister-in-law, she is to go to the elders at the city gate(A) and say, ‘My brother-in-law refuses to preserve his brother’s name in Israel. He isn’t willing to perform the duty of a brother-in-law for me.’

However, if a man does not want to marry his brother’s wife,(A) she shall go to the elders at the town gate(B) and say, “My husband’s brother refuses to carry on his brother’s name in Israel. He will not fulfill the duty of a brother-in-law to me.”(C)
