^2 (A)Belshazzar, when he tasted the wine, commanded that ^(B)the vessels of gold and of silver that Nebuchadnezzar his father^[a] had taken out of the temple in Jerusalem be brought, that the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines might drink from them.

²³ but you have lifted up yourself against ^(A)the Lord of heaven. And ^(B)the vessels of his house have been brought in before you, and you and your lords, your wives, and your concubines have drunk wine from them. ^(C)And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see or hear or know, ^(D)but the God in whose hand is your breath, and ^(E)whose are all your ways, ^(F)you have not honoured.

² And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with some of ^(A)the vessels of the house of God. And he brought them to ^(B)the land of Shinar, to the house of his god, ^(C)and placed the vessels in the treasury of his god.
