23 ¹ Paul looked intently at the Sanhedrin and said, “Brothers, I have lived my life before God in all good conscience^(A) until this day.”

⁴ For I am not conscious of anything against myself, but I am not justified^(A) by this. The One who evaluates me is the Lord.

⁵ clearly recalling your sincere faith^(A) that first lived in your grandmother Lois, then in your mother Eunice,^(B) and that I am convinced is in you also.

¹⁸ Pray for us; for we are convinced that we have a clear conscience, wanting to conduct ourselves honorably in everything.^(A)

¹⁶ However, do this with gentleness and respect, keeping your conscience clear,^[a][b](A) so that when you are accused,^[c] those who denounce your Christian life^[d] will be put to shame.
